BioBridge Advising

Gurmenjit Bahia (she/her) is a senior studying Biology with a concentration in biochemistry/biophysics from Modesto, CA. She particularly enjoys research revolving around omics and healthcare disparities. Additionally, she is involved with the BIOME (Biological Interdisciplinary Open Maker Environment) and a group advocating for First-generation and/or low-income students known as FLIP. She aspires to become an Orthopedic surgeon and go into global surgery while continuing to complete research. Aside from her academics, she loves nature, gardening, and long walks.

Rosa Martinez is a senior hailing from Kennewick, WA, who's pursuing a Biology major with a focus on Neurobiology, along with a co-term in Biology. Rosa's academic path has led her to various research opportunities, spanning from Stanford's labs to international locales like Paris and Madrid. Alongside her pre-med aspirations, she's captivated by the synergy of medicine and education, aiming to harness her deep grasp of biology for meaningful contributions in both domains. Beyond her studies, Rosa delights in attending concerts, indulging in tennis, and exploring new places with her friends. Rosa is excited to join the BioBridge team this year, anticipating an exhilarating academic journey alongside her fellow students!

Saloni Shah is a junior from the Bay Area studying Biology with a concentration in Computational Biology and minoring in Medical Anthropology. She performed research on Alzheimer’s disease through high school and into college. Currently, she focuses on the biology of mental health with the Snyder Lab and cancer with the Morrison Lab. Outside of academics, Saloni runs Humans of Stanford, is involved in numerous premedical clubs across campus, and serves as an RA. In her free time, Saloni loves to watch football (she’s a huge 49ers fan) and pursues her interests in portrait photography. Saloni is super excited to join the BioBridge team this year and help students pave their paths in Biology!

Bikal Sharma is a senior from Dallas, TX majoring in Biology with a concentration in Biochemistry/Biophysics and pursuing a coterm in Biomedical Informatics. He worked in the Pfeffer lab for two years studying the molecular pathways of neurodegenerative diseases and currently works in the Barnes lab studying sarbecovirus antibodies. He is also a premed student, the former student-body vice president, and an expert in taking way too many units every quarter. Outside of academics, Bikal volunteers with Cardinal Free Clinics competes on Stanford's Model UN Team, and serves as an RA. In his free time, he enjoys reading sci-fi, trying new foods, and spending time with friends. He's excited to help students succeed in the Biology department!

Maya Xu (she/her) is a junior from the Bay Area studying biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She is passionate about conservation biology and is a member of the Dirzo lab studying the diets and natural history of the Hoover Tower peregrine falcons. She previously worked as a research assistant in the Daily lab and will coteach BIO 121/221 (Ornithology) in Spring of 2024. Outside of class, Maya is a docent at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve (the best place in the world!), a financial officer and avid birder in the Stanford Birdwatching Club, and sings in the Stanford Chamber Chorale. She also loves wildlife photography, reading fantasy novels, and playing or watching tennis in her free time. Maya is super excited to join the BioBridge team once she’s back from her quarter abroad in Australia, and can’t wait to mentor students in biology!
